In 1946, four construction professionals settled in Albany, Georgia after the war to start a new construction company, S. J. Curry and Company. Over the years, the company established a reputation as a leader in the construction field.

In 1964 the company incorporated in the State of Georgia.  In 1972 the company changed its name to Alcon Associates, Inc.

In 1972, L. D. Bryan III, P.E. joined Alcon's team as a Project Manager and Assistant Estimator. He was named Vice President and Chief Estimator in 1982 and was appointed to the Board of Directors. Don has “risen through the ranks” of Alcon Associates, Inc. and was elected President and CEO in 1985. The Board of Directors elected him Chairman of the Board and appointed him as CEO in 2002.

Under his leadership, Alcon has furthered its reputation as a well-respected General Contractor, Construction Management and Design Build firm.  Alcon’s growth in recent years has been well controlled and consistent in each division: Healthcare, Industrial, Commercial, Institutional, Multi-family, and Municipal. 

During his tenure as President, Alcon has grown from $8,000,000 to +$100,000,000 in annual revenues. With this growth has come national awards and recognitions including two prestigious Build America Awards, four Build Georgia Awards, ABC Awards and many others since 1990. 

COMMUNITY

Throughout his career, Don has been dedicated to the betterment of his community.  He has served on numerous boards and acted as Director of many others including Associated General Contractors of America, Georgia Branch; the YMCA; and Rotary Club. Additionally, under Don’s guidance Alcon was invited to be one of the Charter Members of the Governor’s Mentor/Protégé Program.  He divides his time between Alcon’s three offices:  Corporate (Albany, GA);  Atlanta (Kennesaw, GA) and Columbus, GA.
